Children’s Class T’s & C’s

Booking: All classes are booked online via our website. Existing students are offered places first and then spaces are offered to the waiting list and new students. Holiday classes are open booking for all. Booking opens 4 weeks before the end of each term and you will be emailed to confirm your child is staying for the next term. Payment is made in advance for the full term. If you require assistance with paying for the term in full please email to discuss.

Trial Classes: New students can attend one class without signing up for the term. If they wish to then sign up they will be sent booking and enrolment information which will include the cost of that class. If they do not wish to join up then no payment is required.

Equipment: All students must purchase an equipment kit. They must bring this to every class. They must take home their project after every lesson. We cannot store students' work or equipment at the workshop. If they arrive without their project to work on for the lesson then we will give them something to do for that class but it will not relate to their ongoing project. Students must keep their equipment up to date. New items can be bought at cost price from us at any time.

Food and Drink: No food and drink (other than water bottles) is allowed in the workshop. During longer holiday classes food breaks are scheduled and we will go to the restaurant area to eat. Please do not send your child to class with open packets of food/eating as they arrive. They will be asked to remain outside until they have finished eating.

For longer sessions where we ask children to bring food, please note we are a nut free venue.

Class Times & Waiting Area: Please ensure that your child arrives at the correct time for their class. The door will open 5 minutes before the start of their class. There is no space within the workshop for parents or children to wait. Anyone arriving early will be asked to either wait outside or in the corridor.

If a parent wishes to remain in the building during their child’s class, you are welcome to wait in reception, which is located on the 3rd floor. You are also welcome to explore the co-working/hot desking opportunities/ cafe or take one of the wellness classes within Oru Space. Sutton | Oru Space

First Aid, Medical and SEND: Teaching staff at Stitches Academy are insured and have regular DBS checks. All staff take part in regular safeguarding training. Teaching staff complete regular first aid courses and there will always be a first aider on site.

If your child has any specific medical or SEND needs please tell us via their enrolment form. We may ask you to fill in a medical care form if they have specific actions or procedures to follow i.e. in the event of an emergency or for self administering medication for diabetes or other long term medical conditions. We are an inclusive setting and very happy to make accommodations for all young people so please give us as much information as necessary to best support your child.

Toilet: We have a toilet within our workshop for staff and children only. Parents/visitors may use the toilets within the building that can be found on the 3rd or 4th floors.

Bank holidays: Classes do not run on bank holidays and the fee for the term is reduced to reflect this.

Cancellations: Where we have to cancel a class due to staff illness or emergency we will refund you for the cost of that class. Class cancellations will be notified via email and text message.

Refunds: Refunds cannot be given if your child decides they no longer wish to attend the class.

Non attendance: If a student does not attend a class we are not obliged to offer a catch up class. Most classes are full so there are not spaces for us to accommodate extra children. If we are able to offer catch up classes in extenuating circumstances then no more than 1 will be offered per child per term.

If a child does not turn up to their catch up class, then another one will not be offered that term.

Illness & Holidays: We cannot accommodate class changes for illness or planned holidays. Where a child has missed a lot of classes due to no fault of their own we will try to accommodate catching up if possible however this will not always be possible due to the timetable and classes being full. Unlike sports and dance classes, we cannot just add another child to the class.
